Komainu Lion-Dog Mask - Stone Finish

This handmade lion-dog mask is inspired by the komainu stone statues which can be seen guarding the entrances of Japanese Shinto shrines and Buddhist temples.

The mask is cast in a durable urethane resin which has been painted and weathered to give an antique look.

The mask you see in the photos is the exact mask you will receive.

The mask is fully wearable, although it is a bit heavy and not really recommended for prolonged wearing. It includes a string tie with spring toggle for size adjustment. There are small holes cut in the center of the eyes, but vision is limited. There is no padding included - if you intend to wear it, you will probably want to attach some pieces of upholstery foam, cloth, etc to the inside of the mask.

The optional mounting plaque can be used to hang the mask on a wall. The plaque is made of solid hardwood and measures 16" x 18" x 0.75" thick. It has been stained using a high-grade oil stain and includes a heavy duty rope hanger as shown in the photo.

The deluxe display stand shown in the photos is optional. Two color options are available: black/gray and brown. The stand shown in the photos is the black/gray version.
