Komainu Lion-Dog Mask - Unpainted Resin Cast

from $200.00

This handmade lion-dog mask is an original design, inspired by the komainu stone statues which can be seen guarding the entrances of Japanese Shinto shrines and Buddhist temples.

The mask is cast in a durable epoxy resin which has a light gray color. The edges have been trimmed and there are small holes cut in the center of the eyes. Some cleanup may be required. This could include sanding, filling small voids/bubbles, etc.

**NOTE: The stand shown in the photos is optional. If you'd like to purchase a stand with your mask, you can find them here:

The mask is fully wearable. It includes an optional string tie with spring toggle for size adjustment. There are small holes cut in the center of the eyes, but vision is limited. There is no padding included - if you intend to wear it, you will probably want to attach some pieces of upholstery foam, cloth, etc to the inside of the mask.

FANGS
The four large fangs are cast separately from the main part of the mask. You can choose to have the fangs included separately with your mask, and you must glue them in place. Or you can choose to have the fangs pre-glued. If you choose to attach them yourself, there is a small "L" or "R" marking on each tooth at the base. This indicates which side to place them on (corresponding to your left or right when you are wearing the mask).

The deluxe display stand shown in the photos is optional. Two color options are available: black/gray and brown. The stand shown in the photos is the black/gray version.
